Pixel Power Artist Talk @ McMinnville's First Presbyterian Church

The second of two free talks open to the public on photography techniques will be given by local photographer, Charles Hillestad Sunday July 23 beginning at 3:00 pm in McMinnville’s First Presbyterian Church, which is located on 1st Street between Davis and Cowls Streets.

The first lecture was on composition in the camera. This second discussion is a more advanced one focusing on the concept of post camera “editing tricks”and is entitled “Pixel Power”. It demonstrates the fun and possibilities of editing after taking the shot. The discussion is designed to be helpful to all those interested in improving their photographic images, regardless of their current level of skill and regardless of whether they use an expensive traditional camera, a little “point and shoot” or asmart phone.

The lectures are in connection with a one man show entitled “INSPIRATIONS” at the adjacent Narthex Art Gallery showcasing nearly 200 works of Mr. Charles Hillestad. Almost all the prints were taken within the past two years and this is the first time most have ever been printed. Many show his more experimental side and most will be for sale.

Mr. Hillestad, a retired lawyer, has been taking photographs since 1955. In 2012, he started entering photography competitions and has accumulated over 100 honors at photography conventions, fairs, and various publications including a two page national spread in Popular Photography magazine.

He has entered the Oregonian annual competition three times and has placed in the top five all three times including a public popularity vote.
